CY on his very last legs

After the recent Legco fiasco, it must be pretty clear to even the most ardent shoe-shiner that CY Leung’s days are numbered.

CY himself has entered into some type of death-spiral, denying that there is any problem at all, and bizarrely offering Pan-Democracts a choice of breakfast. Things must be pretty bad.

But not to worry, he was back in his robotic Beijing-is-always-right mode the other day when he pronounced that he was going to Beijing to seek support for economic and livelihood issues. Not that he cares about livelihood, but since when exactly are local economic policies any of Beijing’s concern? Hongkongers were promised 50 years of self-rule, defined in Article 2 of the Hong Kong Basic Law as exercising “a high degree of autonomy and enjoy executive, legislative and independent judicial power, including that of final adjudication“.

And today CY had to fend off renewed rumours that Beijing was showing him the door out. Can’t be long now.
